David was such an intelligent, caring person. We had a few business classes together and enjoyed getting to know him. He was funny and kind and it's a shame we have lost him.
David was a close friend of mine in High School. I was very saddened when I ran into his mother in the late 80's and learned of his suicide. He had great ambitions.
I know what happened to David Rose. Early on the morning of August 4, 1985. David took his own life with a single gunshot to the head. No one knows the exact reason for David's sudden act, but I have always suspected it was due a recent breakup with his girlfriend, Annie, and some health issues. I went over to David's house the next day, and his mother, Barbara, was absolutely drowned in sorrow. David was cremated, and his ashes spread out at sea. David's family, Tim Howard, and I were there to say good-bye (David was close with Tim Howard, too, and I believe that they both worked at Standard Paints on Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach).
The other tragedy was that David's father had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he delayed his medical treatment to deal with David's death. Within one year, David's father had also died, leaving Ms. Rose alone.
David was a very close friend, and I could always count on him to make me laugh in the toughest of times. We originally met in German class, and we remained close friends up to the time of his passing. David loved fast cars, wild investment dreams, and his dog (Roxie?).
It has been over 25 years since David lost his life, but I still hold him in my memories and my heart, and think of the things that might have been . . . Rest well, my friend.
