Martha Lynn Holcomb Thornhill

I taught school after graduation from LSU in 1971. I taught math and science in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Louisiana again till 1982. Then I returned to graduate school full time and received a doctorate in Reading Education from LSU in 1986. At that time I was hired as an Assistant Professor of Education at Southeastern Louisiana University. Subsequently, I became Department Head and Interim Dean of Education. I retired from Southeastern in 2011.

When I was in 10th grade taking Chemistry 1 mwith Mr. Nichols, I was in lab and my right knee became dislocated. Mr. Nichols helped me up and proceeded to help me all the way down the stairs — from the 3rd floor all the way down — and down the front steps to my mom’s waiting car. I could never look Mr. Nichols in the eye again! lol
