After being reminded and encouraged by Biel, I am finally updating my profile. Just having "pastor" as my occupation IS a little boring, plus I've really enjoyed catching up on everyone else through what you've written about yourselves.
So...after graduation I went to Samford and majored in history, graduating in 1991. I went to law school at the University of Alabama for exactly one year and three weeks before dropping out to go to seminary at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. I thought I wanted to be a youth minister, but fell in love with hospital chaplaincy during an internship at an Atlanta children's hospital. Meanwhile, I also fell in love with a dear friend and fellow seminary student and got married December 17, 1994. After we graduated, my husband David took a call as the Associate Pastor (mostly working with youth) at First Presbyterian in Athens, AL, and I started working as a chaplain at Huntsville Hospital part-time while also teaching preschool at the church. Our daughter Mabry was born May 5, 1998, and six months later we moved to Maranatha Camp and Conference Center in Scottsboro, where David served as the camp director for nine years. We had Leslie December 6, 2000, and in August, 2003, I took a call at Grace Presbyterian Church in Madison as the solo pastor. We moved to Huntville and both commuted for a few years, one East and one West, and now that David is serving the church in Athens again we both drive West. We'll see how long that lasts before one of us caves and we move closer to work! We have enjoyed being in Huntsville even though I thought I would never move back. It's fun to see everyone who lives here and I get to hang out with Amy and Biel and watch our kids grow up together!
