Classmate Richard William Kelly was born on 3 November 1956. He passed away, circumstances unknown, on 7 August 1995. He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Madison Alabama. He was just 38 years old at the time. I have been unable to unearth any details on his post graduation life in terms of profession, family or fate. In school I remember him as a solid and straight forward character who always treated me with kindness and respect. If anyone can share any details about his post Grissom days, or stories, please do.
I knew Richard from a class I had with him in 11th or 12th grade. He was somewhat of a charter as I remember and I really liked him. He is someone who I had wanted to make contact with again. I had often wondered what had happened to him after high school. I wish I could find out more about what he did after high school. I wish I had made the effort to keep in contact with him.
Richard Kelly was found deceased at his home and is believed to have died from a heart attack secondary to being a heavy smoker. Cigarette smoking was fashionable at that time and Richard was a heavy smoker as were many of the rest of our class. Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to lick that bad habit in my early 30's.
