I believe Jay wright passed away between 1975-1977.  I was at Auburn, and I think he was a member of the fraternity to which I was a little sister (AEPi); he was on leave, as I recall.  It was a very sad day when we heard the news.  Jay was always sweet, kind, and a little bit geeky, as were we all.  We all wish we had known how serious his unhappiness was.

I was in ROTC with Jay, so we spent some time together (his hair length was a constant source of friction with ROTC mgt.).  He lived up on the top of Hickory Hill Lane as I recall, and my mom knew his mom. He was good with electronics, and asembled a gadget for me.  Younger brother also knew him through Jay's car interests, and as I recall Jay had a VW beetle.

I could not find an obituary or any other archived information on Jay. I did find a date of birth of 20 October 1956 and date of death of 24 March 1975. That would put Jay at the very young age of 19 when his life ended. His parents were in the military and both are passed away. Jay is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri in the family plot.

I don't really remember Jay from high school, but I was back door neighbors with his parents from 1985 until somewhere around 2000 when they moved to Arizona to live with their son. They were great neighbors and surrogate grandparents to my boys. Jay's death was very hard on them.

I knew Jay from Weatherly elementary school all the way thru high school. Even in the sixth grade he knew electronics. He was a very smart guy and had lots of interest. He was a great person. I wish now I had spent more time getting to know him better than I did. I was very saddened at the news of his death. He should have had a long life. He had a lot to contribute. I wish I had know of his unhappiness and could have offered him help at the time. Life can be very difficult at that age. I am still  saddened by the thought of his death especially at such a young age.

At least one classmate has passed to me that Jay's early departure at age 19 was a suicide. This has not been confirmed however, by anything I could find.
