After high school, I attended BYU and studied Biology Teaching. I took 18 months off of school to serve a mission in Kennewick, Washington. That was one of the biggest growing experiences of my life. After returning home, I renewed a relationship with Josh Wood, also a Hillcrest alumni (2001). We were married in May of 2005 and lived in Pocatello for 2 years and Provo for a semester so I could finish my degree. While in Pocatello I worked at the Idaho State Journal (the local newspaper). Josh is now studying medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and I'm busy raising our two kids. Emmett is currently three years old and I would describe him as precocious. He is learning how to read and is the best big brother. His little sister, Melynn, is one and is learning how to talk. I have a feeling that she will be giving me attitude and telling jokes within the next six months. She is full of personality and has great facial expression. I teach three piano students and sell Mary Kay to fill in any gaps that I haven't filled with other activities like going to the gym, going to the library, the Childrens' Museum, or the humongous Omaha Zoo. I stay very busy but I'm always willing to drop everything for my friends. Life is good and has been good to me. Our future plans are residency somewhere in the US; he wants to be an otolaryngologist (the long name for an Ear, Nose and Throat Doc). We will be there for 5 years and then from there, who knows?
I would say one of my most memorable experiences from high school was on the day of the Homecoming football game our senior year. I was dressed in my marching band uniform, ready to play in the Homecoming parade but I wasn't feeling well and had to make a run for the ladies' room to throw-up. I only made it from the band room to a garbage can in the gym so everyone in the halls got a pretty disgusting show. But, it got me out of marching in the parade!
