I hope this note finds you all doing well. It's hard to believe it has been 20 years since graduation--I hardly feel old enough!
I am happy to say I have at least accomplished a few of my "lifetime" goals in these past 20 years. In addition to growing older with a really great husband (married 18 years in April) and being a mother of three fantastic boys, I have authored two books (an historical novel and a regional piece). I have had opportunities to travel to different countries and see amazing sights. Recently, we purchased a Harley and now plan to go to Sturgis (yes, a bit cliché for approaching middle age!). More travel is always within our plans.
Before moving to Iowa we lived in San Diego and San Francisco. Though now living in Des Moines, and in spite of not having nearby family, we have grown to appreciate the mid-west. One day, however, I see ourselves moving back to the beach, far away from snow and ice!
My professional life has been rewarding as well. After spending over 15 years in the dental field my path has taken me into the world of ophthalmology. Being in charge of numerous doctors and a large support staff (though some days I feel like a glorified baby sitter) I love the challenges each day brings. Nothing is ever mundane or routine!
I hope each of you have had an equally fulflilling 20 years and can look back over your lives with a sense of pride and accomplishment I am excited to see what is to come in the next 20 years!
If anyone is inclined to drop me an email at loripielak@msn.com, I'd love to hear from you. I wish all of you well.
