He was a born-again believer in the Lord and enjoyed working in the church. He worked for the Blackfoot Police Department as a sergeant in Patrol, until he switched to being a resource officer at Independence Alternative High School. This portion of his career was so very special; he met numerous young adults that changed his life, for the better. He retired after 38 years in police work and tried to just take it easy. After about two weeks, he couldn't stand not working, so he found a part-time job as a bailiff at Bingham County Courthouse and has enjoyed that for several years. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved riding his four wheeler, camping, and just spending time with his family and his best buddy, his dog Spook.
