In Memory

Ivy Sue East

Ivy Susan East, 61, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at her home.

She was born Monday, August 5, 1957 to the late Roy Clifford and Jeannie (Myers) East in Indianapolis.

Ivy graduated from Indiana University where she majored in Biology and English and was also an IU Red Steppers. Ivy was a ballet dancer and taught dance in Indianapolis for several years while working in the banking business. She also worked in the veterinary’s office in Martinsville and loved animals. Ivy was the Talent Show Director at the Morgan County Fair for several years and also worked for Dr. Michael Phelps, Chiropractor and William VanDerPol, Jr., attorney at law.

She loved the Indiana Hoosiers and watched football and basketball games faithfully. She enjoyed being outdoors and working with her flowers and feeding the birds. She also had a passion for Harley Davidsons. Her father had a connection with the Indianapolis 500 and she loved to go there. In fact, when she was in high school, she and a classmate skipped school and went to the track only to be spotted by her father, who then took them back to school. She had a brief stint as a playboy bunny at Lake Geneva one summer until her father happened to be there with a client one night and that was the end of that. Ivy had belonged to the Kiwanis Club and later the Lions Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville.

Visitation will be at Costin Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be at New South Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 West Mitchell Avenue, Martinsville, IN 46151.
