Gene E. Harner of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022.  He was born on December 6, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents F. Gene Harner and Pauline Harner.

 

Gene graduated from Lawrence Central High School.  Gene was married to Lois Sutherland in 1986 and she became the light of his life.  Gene was a machinist at paper art.  That was his job and he did it well.  Gene had a great love for taking and putting things back together thus why he loved his model airplanes, trains, boats, and cars very much.  Gene was a wonderful man but what he loved above all was taking care of his family.  He provided for them and took great caution of their well being and health.  Gene was a blessing to his family and nothing will ever be the same without that goofy, loving, astonishing man we call husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.  You will be significantly missed.  We all love you.

Gene is survived by his siblings: Kenneth Harner, David Harner, Dan Harner, and his little sister Patti Nordyke (Addison).

Gene had 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 5 great-nieces, 6 great-nephews, 2 great-great-nieces, and 3 great-great nephews.  Gene’s is also survived by his children Debbie Britt, Teresa Britt, Wendy Britt, Dean Britt, Paula Poplicean and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father F. Gene Harner and mother Pauline Harner and his son Joe Poplicean.

Funeral services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229.  Visitation will be on Friday, December 9th from 1:00PM-2:00PM with a funeral service beginning at 2:00PM.  He will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.  After the service there will be a celebration of life at Jenn Memorial Park, 10450 E. 63rd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
