Arla and I have been married 53 (5-30-71). We have lived on the Oregon Coast since December 1984. We believe we live in God's country with the variety of climate and landscape Oregon offers. We enjoy walking the beaches, white water rafting, downhill skiing, playing with grandkids 7 of them aged 14-2.. We rarely have snow and don't need air conditioning in the summer. Arla and I fought tooth and nail about air conditioning in Iowa!ha We are indebted to our Children and the blessing of raising them. We have learned about ourselves in the process. Our kids did sports so we traveled thousands of miles going to their games etc. How quick time flies by. We have been blessed to work together in our counseling practice for the past 36 years. In spite of our shortcomings we have been able to help many people in their emotional and spiritual healing journey. Counseling has kept our marriage strong. Nineteen yrs. ago I purchased some ballroom dancing lessons for Arla's birthday and we have been dancing ever since. If I can dance, anyone can dance. I dance like Fred...not Astaire,...Fred Flintstone. Arla, on the hand is a natural dancer and picks moves up quickly. (Arla added: he only does 25 dances, so clearly he is no slouch!) I love whitewater rafting and downhill skiing. Ruth and I have skied together since she was 9 yrs. old. I could go on & on. In conclusion we love the Lord, each other, our family, and serving Him in our counseling ministry. We pray you are all well and enjoy your time at the reunion. Keep in touch. We love hearing from people.
I was one of the few guys in our class who participated in most sports, band and choir etc (a Jack of all trades but Master of none). I also worked at Hy-Vee with Dad and about half my classmates it seemed. I remember trying out our Senior Year for the Choir Pops Concert with my friend Bob Ashbacher. We sang hits from Fiddler on the Roof and sang some Barber Shop quartet stuff. I also volunteered to wrestle heavy weight (Ron O'Neal) in a practice and pinned him. Those are my fondest memories.
