I'm curious to see what grade everyone started at Interlachen.  Some of us have been together since 1st grade.  That's when I moved there.  The summer before 1st grade.

I started first grade at Interlachen.  We left for half of second grade and then I came back, so I claim being there from 1st grade.

I started IHS in 9th grade.  We move up from Miami.

I started in 2nd grade is Mrs. Teske's class.  How did I remember that????

 I started school in Interlachen at the end of second grade.  I think you are right Cathy, I was in Mrs. Teske's class.  

Really how did you remember that?  I think the the 1st teachers name I remember is Mrs. Strickland.  I do however remember watching movies in 2nd grade and sitting under the desk with Andy Taylor...LOL.

That's too funny, Dee!  Remember the fish tank tipping over in Mrs. Strickland's class?  I don't remember who was there but I do remember the aquarium splash!    

Oh my gosh!  I do remember that.  Who was that mean teacher that would hit you on the knuckles with a ruler?  She was in the trailor by the bus drop off...it was either 3rd or 4th grade.  Of course she never did that to me ;-)

It was Mrs. Thomas.  She took me in the closet to hit me but she only pretended to and told me not to tell that she really didn't hit me.  I couldn't keep my big mouth shut and told anyway so back in the closet I went and it was for real that time!!!  We were in Mrs. Thomas and I think Mrs. Parham for 4th grade.  Well, one thing about getting old..we haven't lost our memory yet! 

Well at least you haven't.  I can't believe you still remember their names.

  I am jealous of all of your early memories. I attended 13 schools in 9 different states before moving to Interlachen.  My family did not move to Interlachen until 10 days before summer when I was at the end of 11th grade.  We decided not to wait until summer to move because we wanted to be able to meet some people through school before summer arrived.  So, I only went my senior year to IHS.  

Mary I can't believe you were only there for 1 year.  I felt like I had known you forever.  I for one am very happy your parents moved there and we got to you in our class and life.

I remember all of those teachers as well.  I remember in first grade, one of the boys choking on a marble and the teacher saving him!  The teacher was blond, but I can't think of her name and I wonder who the kid was!

Cathy, do you remember Ms Parhm's brother passing away and us learning a song to sing to her when she got back?

It seems my memories are of the trauma times!

I remember a boy choking in 5th grade on a piece of candy.  The teacher was Mrs. Glenn, she was a pretty blonde.  She ran him out outside and somehow dislodged the candy.

I agree I feel like Mary was there for years.  I can't believe you were only there for our senior year.

 Thank you all for making me feel so part of the group even though I don't have any elementary school memories to share with you.

Wow, talk about a trip down memory lane!  Carol, I do remember that!  

Do any of you remember and I think it was 2nd grade when the pole fell on Shonna Turner and hit her in the eye?  I think we were walking to the high school for lunch and they were doing construction on the sidewalk and it fell and knocked her out.  I remember us all being so traumatized by that!  

I was thinking about the other day!  We we're all spinning around the polls and that one wasn't bolted in good or something and fell.  You're right Cathy we were all devastated.  She was one of the prettiest girls and I thought how horrible that she would be scarred for life.

Do you remember the riot at the highschool?  I remember being in the library and trying to see out the windows.

This is such an amazing thread!  Anna, you are right - it was Mrs Glenn and it was candy the boy choked on.  Wish I could remember who the kid was.

And I remember the day with Shona as well.  I was telling someone today about how strange it is that the trauma events are what stand out for me. 

I remember Andy Taylor teasing me!  My Mom even mentioned it to me the other day.  He is on classmates.com and plans to attend.  I did not recognize him at all when I saw his pics!

We need to have old pics on our nametags!!

 I agree Carol, name tags are a must.  I was looking at the pics from the 10 yr reunion and I did not recognize several people.  Carol, are you still in contact with Jill Beckham?

 I started in 10th grade.  We moved up from the Fort Lauderdale area. 

I didn't know this thread existed til this morning.  Can you tell I don't want to get the day started?  :)  Anyway, wow, those are some awesome memories....having been together in school for the whole time.  I went to many different schools!!  

Anyway, my biggest freak out for the moment is that I just barely remember the 10 year reunion!!  I know I was not feeling well that day - and ended up being diagnosed with a throat infection, but how can I not remember it?  Oh well, good thing I don't drink anymore...maybe that was it.
