Comments:

Greg and I were married June 26, 1970. I became a P.E. Aide for John Haley Elementary School. In April of 1972 we had our first child, Tommy, and I became a stay at home mom. In Sept. of 1973 Greg was transfered with Roadway Express to Shreveport, Louisiana. We moved as far as the Texas state line, Waskom, TX. We lived there ll years. Our second child was born Dec. 1976, Julie, and life was busier than ever. I've always said if she had been the first child she would have been the last. She was her own little self and did things her way, and still does. I began doing alot of volunteer work for the elementary school and loved it. In 1984 we bought 19 acres of land just North of Marshall, TX. We built our own home and after 3 years were able to move in it. I still continued to do volunteer work for the Marshall ISD. I loved working with children and I could spend my children's off time with them. They were and are the highlight of my life. When Tommy became a Senior in High School in 1989, I went to work part time as the church's secretary. In 1994 Julie became a Senior and that finished my years as a drill team mom. I decided that I should get paid for all the time I spent time volunteering at school and went to work full time at Marshall ISD as a paraprofessional. I just love the kids at my school. Greg and I have loved traveling in our 50 years. We were in the Virgin Islands sailing at my 25th class reunion, the West Indies sailing for my 30th class reunion and we were
be at our daughters wedding on 10-10-10. Sorry we have missed all of the class reunions, but if at all possible will be at the 50th.

School Story:

In Business Math class, we had a group of football players that sat together in a corner of the room. One of the players saw a match head on the floor and decided to step on it. Of course the match lit for a second and made smoke. Another football player decided to be the fire engine. With his siren going, he ran out of the classroom into the hall way got water in his mouth from the water fountian. His siren still going ran back into the class room and spit water on the match head to put the fire out. I can see it in my head like it happend yesterday and still laugh. The young teacher didn't think it was so funny. I married the one that pushed his foot on the match to make it smoke.

Which Elementary School(s) did you attend?

L.B. Barton Elementary, Irving, Texas

Which Middle School(s) did you attend?

Crockett Jr. High

Do You see/talk to/hang out with our classmates? Who?

Talk to Debra Fulbright Kitchens. She keeps me informed about what our classmates are doing. Linda Baker Oliver and I have continued to stay in touch. We did a lot of things together as we were raising our children.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I live in the country. I have always been a city girl and never intended to leave Irving,Texas. Greg got a job transfer in 1973 with Roadway Express to Shreveport Lousiana. We ended up in as far East Texas as was possible, Waskom, which is on the state line on I-20. He couldn't get me out of Texas. We moved to Marshall in 1984 after buying 19 acres of land. I love living in the country and we are only 3 miles and 1 traffic light from Wal-Mart. But, that’s as far in the country as I’m going. Funny though, I never want to move back to the city.

What is your favorite memory of IHS?

Having a winning football season in the fall of 1968 and playing Odesssa Permiam in the quarter finals football game. Greg played right tackle and I had a class with him. We started dating after football was over in Dec. 1968. We married in June of 1970 after I graduated. He is still my favorite memory and the best decision I ever made.

Who was our High School Mascot?

Big Irvi

Who was our biggest cross-town rival (in sports etc)?

The MacArthur Cardinals

Hi, Sandy. I’ve wondered about you & Jimmy for years. You were one of my best friends at school. Can you believe we will be married 50 years this year? Greg and I live in the country too. We live just North of Marshall but do have a Marshall address. Met some people at church about 38 years ago and we all bought property together. We’ve divided 45 acres. Greg and I bought the front 19 acres. Both of the kids live near us. TOMMY has 2 children a girl 25 & a boy 10. GRAND Children have been the best. How has your family been? I am on Facebook and Messenger, if you wanna keep in touch. I’d love to reconnect with y’all. Are you going to our 50 Reunion? I’m still deciding.. it all depends who else may be going. Hope to here from you.

Hi, Sandy. Hope you have a very Happy Birthday. How did we get this old this fast? Are you going to our 50th Class reunion? I’m debating. It may depend on the other classmates that I know are going. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving too.
