Born and raised on jax beach.lived his entired life at the beaches.attended #144 his early years before enlisting into the United States Army at the age of 15 to help support his family.was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky where he served with the 710 Tank Battalion.received his GED while attending paratrooper jump school at Fort Benning,Georgia..After training,was sent to Japan with 187th Regimental Combat Division.served two years in Japan and was part of the support group for his fellow soldiers in Korea.received an honorable discharge in 1953.was one of the first three black police to be hired by the jacksonville beach police department in 1956.also the first black deputy constable for the fifth district.trained seven other black officers while serving on the force.was sent on special assignments for the force during the civil rights movement.left the jax beach police force in 1969 and later hired as the second black special investigation for the office of public defenders for the state of Florida.worked as criminal investigator until his retirement in 1997.was funeralized november 2008 and now rest in the Florida National VA Cemetery.
At 144 started the patrol boys.taught them their drill routine and wrote the parlimentary rule book for squad.got funding for uniforms and took them on field trips which included the space center and marineland.mentored many young men at the school and was often called upon by parents to counsel their sons.also recruited star athletes at the school for pop warner football,city league baseball and basketball.instrumental in integrating the jax beach boys and girls club.
