M Jane Johnson (Johnson)

Hi John,

Reading about you living in Czechoslovakia!  How exciting!  Now you are thinking about moving to Italy!  My heart faints!  I love Italy, and one of my dreams is to have a place there that I could go to often to have a place that I could go and draw and take in the culture.  I have often been to Tuscany, and one of my best friends from college married an Italian she met the first weekend we were there for school.  I was lucky to spend part of my college years in Italy, where I loved to perch on a wall or steps and draw the scenes around me.

You are so good at posting interesting information about our past on FB.  I enjoy reading them!  Every time I hear anything about Skynyrd!  I have seen someone with a Skynyrd license plate here.  Had to stop and talk to them!

See you all on Saturday.

Jane

I was planning to Zoom with all on Saturday but will be going to a live music gig instead.  Anyone who knows me knows attending live performances takes precedence over just about everything. Have a lovely chat, fellow alumni. GO NOLES!!!

Hello from Texas, Y'all !!

It was great to see classmates this past weekend.

Great BIG Thank You to Vivian for the setup and also thanks to those able to attend.

Sad to find out that my neighbor from Dancy Street, Cheryl Blackburn (Aronow) passed away in August this year. We used to walk to school many times when weather was nice enough. RIP old friend!!

Well, I guess no good deed goes unpunished. The good deed was my daughter took me out to a movie. The punishment was I forgot about the zoom phone call. I wish that I would have zoomed with everyone else but at 8 o'clock is when I remembered and by then it was too late. it was good to hear that a lot of people enjoyed getting back together on the phones.

Vivian,  I wish I had joined the zoom call but since I'm a technical illiterate I couldn't figure out how to join.  Hello to everyone that did/didn't join. I'm looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone in person.  Hope that all have a fabulous day.

Donna

Chip, Jim Mackie talked about the reunion.  John Hill gave us a lesson on ancestry investigating.  All in all, it was a fun conversation with some old classmates.

Hello Mighty Generals!

Just a quick note to say hello and that we are working on the 55th reunion.  You will receive more info soon.

I hope every one is well.  I have been under the weather for the last 16 months -  COVID, pneumonia, kidney failure and several stays in the hospital.  My first bout left me in the hospital for 5 weeks, 21 days of being unresponsive.  Papers for hospice were ready to be signed, but a wonderful doctor came in and saved the day and me!!  I now go to dyalysis three times per week for four hours per visit. Things are now somewhat normal.  I look around me and realized I am truly blessed and I thank God for that every day!

Stay in touch and be safe.  I look forward to seeing each of you soon,

GO GENERALS!

Jimmy Kelly

Jimmy, I'm so sorry to hear of your health issues but darn glad that one doctor saw through the problem and got you in the path to healing. At our age the problems seem to head our way and yes we are truly blessed to be here to continue living our best life. If there is anything I can do from home to help with the reunion, please let me know. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else at our 55‼️

Several years ago I got very sick and had to drink several 16 oz of water early in the morning.  I could hardly get out of bed and no one was home but me. I got the hospital and was on the death bed like you for 3 days, my wife raced home from Wisconsin. After 3 day a doctor came in and said I had “Pseudomonas”. Gave me a mixture of drugs and I made it.  There was another time that I bleed out (2 1/2 pints of blood in 3 hours) but I made that also. I know that I have several Guarding Angles looking over me.

Glad you made it.

Hey Thomas and James,

Thomas, I went through the same thing almost 3 years ago, I passed out twice, bleeding ulcer, I went to the hospital, 3 pints of blood. That will get your attention, fast. My doctor told me if I had waited another 24/48 hours to get to the hospital, I would be shaking Elvis' hand right now. You would have to know me to understand that remark. LOL. I'm glad you are doing better.

James, WOW!!! I'm so glad everything worked out for you also. That is so scary...  You guys take care.

Looking forward to seeing all in June. "Go Big Blue".

John

Just an FYI but this Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 am in the Gym they are dedicating the Stadium or Athletic Facilities at Riverside  / Robert E. Lee High School in honor of Coach Leon Barrett. He still substitutes there and stays very engaged.  Still lives in the house at the north end of stadium.  He began when we were students there and sure we all have some memories of him and his bellowing voice or a few "licks" to correct our behavior.

Hi all,  it. Is with a heavy heart that I write this.  Recently heard from Ray Davis through Nancy Curlee that our beloved Billy Davis passed away in 2020. It was not from Covid but during Covid so his lovely wife was unable to be at the hospital with him. Our condolences go out to Ray and all his loved ones.

Donna, thank you for letting us know.  In my heart I knew something was wrong. Billy was excitedly anticipating the 50th Anniversary, yet we never heard from him.  I first met Billy in 5th grade at Venetia Elementary when my family moved to Jacksonville. Although we lost touch over the years, we reconnected at the 45th Anniversary. He was such fun to be around. He will be sorely missed.
