Jimmy, I'm so sorry to hear of your health issues but darn glad that one doctor saw through the problem and got you in the path to healing. At our age the problems seem to head our way and yes we are truly blessed to be here to continue living our best life. If there is anything I can do from home to help with the reunion, please let me know. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else at our 55‼️

Several years ago I got very sick and had to drink several 16 oz of water early in the morning.  I could hardly get out of bed and no one was home but me. I got the hospital and was on the death bed like you for 3 days, my wife raced home from Wisconsin. After 3 day a doctor came in and said I had “Pseudomonas”. Gave me a mixture of drugs and I made it.  There was another time that I bleed out (2 1/2 pints of blood in 3 hours) but I made that also. I know that I have several Guarding Angles looking over me.

Glad you made it.

Hey Thomas and James,

Thomas, I went through the same thing almost 3 years ago, I passed out twice, bleeding ulcer, I went to the hospital, 3 pints of blood. That will get your attention, fast. My doctor told me if I had waited another 24/48 hours to get to the hospital, I would be shaking Elvis' hand right now. You would have to know me to understand that remark. LOL. I'm glad you are doing better.

James, WOW!!! I'm so glad everything worked out for you also. That is so scary...  You guys take care.

Looking forward to seeing all in June. "Go Big Blue".

John

Just an FYI but this Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 am in the Gym they are dedicating the Stadium or Athletic Facilities at Riverside  / Robert E. Lee High School in honor of Coach Leon Barrett. He still substitutes there and stays very engaged.  Still lives in the house at the north end of stadium.  He began when we were students there and sure we all have some memories of him and his bellowing voice or a few "licks" to correct our behavior.

Hi all,  it. Is with a heavy heart that I write this.  Recently heard from Ray Davis through Nancy Curlee that our beloved Billy Davis passed away in 2020. It was not from Covid but during Covid so his lovely wife was unable to be at the hospital with him. Our condolences go out to Ray and all his loved ones.

Donna, thank you for letting us know.  In my heart I knew something was wrong. Billy was excitedly anticipating the 50th Anniversary, yet we never heard from him.  I first met Billy in 5th grade at Venetia Elementary when my family moved to Jacksonville. Although we lost touch over the years, we reconnected at the 45th Anniversary. He was such fun to be around. He will be sorely missed.

I just received a phone call from my brother, David (Jax Beach) who has been in contact with Rosemary Skinner, wife of legendary coach, Leonard Skinner. They are connected on Facebook of which I am not. She's now 88 years old and lives in Ortega Forest or Farms (?). Her daughter, Susie Moore (Confederate Point), is working with a film production company out of Atlanta on an exploratory project about her dad. I called her up and we had a 45 minute conversation about the project and lots of nostalgia about her dad. She was 10 years old at the time we graduated, and like many females we knew, she had a crush on Dick Kaysen (rest his soul) Lol. She's meeting with the producer next Tuesday at a Hilton somewhere off Roosevelt (?). Susie told me she's trying to get in touch with Coach Barrett, but so far unsuccessfully. She mentioned Hans and Terry Wallace as well. I told her I haven't seen Hans since the 50th Reunion and Terry has been known to engage on Classmates from time to time. We talked about Bucky Husk but I told her he might be the most elusive to find. Anyway, since Terry has been known to use Classmates, as well as Hans, some of you maybe able to contact them and have them call me. I don't really know where this going other than what I've described but it appears this will focus on Coach Skinner. For me that's 1967-69 and for my brother it's 1968-1970 (he was on the team when coach was let go). So if anyone of you can assist me with any of the folks mentioned above, the family would be interested. I have a Zoom contact set up for next Tuesday at 5pm. Eastern Time with these people. Life is still good in Northern California and I hope all is well with everyone. Sorry I'll miss the reunion this year.  Tom Nixon

Just wanted to announce another milestone for Helen and myself.  Our first great grandchild was born in New Mexico Tuesday about noon.  Still in a little disbelief!

John, congratulations on your new grandson. New Mexico is one of my favorite travel destinations and a fine place to live. We just had our first grandson born on July 2nd so I know your excitement. Let's hope the world wraps its arms around them like we grandparents do. Peace!

Thanks for all the kind thoughts!  We are getting daily FaceTime updates from our grandson.  I think Helen is busy checking airline connections.  Still getting my head around being a great grandfather.

My wife, Cindy, and I have moved to St. Marys, Georgia which is just over the state line. We built our dream/ retirement home near the St. Marys river in a quite neighborhood in Cumberland Harbour. I really like living here but, I don't like the hour commute each way to the courthouse downtown.

So if anyone's looking for a quite area with with great neighbors to build, I would highly recommend Cumberland Harbour. Everone is welcome to stop by. Steve Young and his wife Judy came by in November and albeit brief, we had a good time riding the golf cart throughout the neighborhood.

Good morning all. My sister, Peg Myers, mentioned to me about the possibility of a yearly reunion. Has anyone else heard anything about this?  Now that we are all getting a little older, every 5 years may be too far apart. What say you? Good idea or no?

I agree, a lot can happen in five years. Question: are we meeting next month (June) at Lillians?

there was a lot of talk at the 55th to meet annually at Lilians. I can't remember the date.
