Thomas [Tommy] Tumblety

January 11, 1951 - December 26, 1974 in Jacksonville, FL

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Hardage-Kraus Southside Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., the Rev. Harold K. Huggan officiating. Burial will be in Mandarin Cemetery. Mr. Tumbelty, of 1203 Condor Drvie, died Thursday after a brief illness. He had resided in Jacksonville most of his life and was a graduate of Wolfson High School. On May 7th, 1972, he was injured in a swmming accident, leaving him a quadriplegic. He was a Bookkeeper with the Beauclerc Assoc. and American Alarm Co. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tumbelty, three sisters, Mrs. Ann Stroud, Miss Patricia C. and Miss Shirley T. Tumbelty, three brothers, John E. Tumbelty, Doug Owen and Russell Owen, all of Jacksonville; maternal grandmother Mrs. Frances Johnson, St. Augustine; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. G.H. McConners, Bradenton, Fla; and several aunts and uncles, and a nephew Michael Stroud. Honory pallbearers will be Pat McGovern, Ernest Boada, Eddy Jackson, Danny Butler, Sam VanOyne, Marty Delamonte, Jerry Johnson, Ronny Butler and Jimmy Butler, John McDermotte, Gerry Tucker, Melvin and Mike Fletcher. Active [bearers]: Josh Sheppard, Mike Weaver, Billy Sheppard, Greg Hoffman, Orto Hogan, James Bridges, Barlow Curran. To his many friends, love, especially to the Cathedral Health and Rehabilition Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cathedral Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Edward Jennings [Ed] White

Tommy was an awesome surfer who really tore it up at Crossroads (Mickler's). His younger brother Johnny passed a few years ago as well. Very sad.
