In Memory

Scott Hodge - Class Of 1975

Scott Hodge

Bill Barie

Scotty was a special buddy.  Years ago after we graduated I ran into Scotty in Jax. while pumping gas to go home to Vero Beach.  He wanted to show me where he was living and  catch up on the time missed since Graduation.  He went on and on about his illness and very glad to be in "remission".  I noted that he still seemed worried about it coming back but, his spirit was good.  We talked about the service and discovered that we both were in Artillery.  He was in the Army working as a surveyor and I was a Marine Artillery Liaison Officer at the time he became sick.  He was medically discharged and drew retirement pay when we met.  We talked for a few hours and I needed to head home. As we parted I remember telling him an old Civil War Artillerymans slogan, "Always March to the Distant Thunder".

He passed on to a better place about nine months after I visited with him.  I discovered that he died when I came to the next reunion.  Scotty will be missed by all who knew him and I will never forget him.

Scott was a very good friend of mine, we had a lot of good times together at school, band and after school hours with other friends and my family. He is missed very much by me and my family members.

Scott and I shared band together.  We met at Arlington Junior High!  A great guy that is for sure.  I have some fun memories with the gang: Kim, David, Bill, Mike, James and Scott!  I am certain I left someone out but anyways... this is about Scott :-)

Scotty was a very tenderhearted sweet man.... i am thankful for the time that we shared.  I remain close to his family.  His sister, Debbie, was the sister I never had.  She also died 4 years ago of cancer.  Scotty and Randy Bryant are buried side by side in the Arlington Cemetary.  they were the best of friends.

Scott and I got caught skipping school together in 6th grade and when we were at HS parties together it was the first thing we brought up and laugh about. That was only one of so many great memories we had as friends.  Fabulous guy with not a bad bone in his body. You are missed and will never be forgotten.
