Rita Moro - Class Of 1975

Rita Moro

TP75 Classmate Rita Moro passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Growing up Rita lived on Rogero Road and her parents had a summer home in Villano Beach.  Rita attended Justina Elementary and Fort Caroline Jr High.  Rita was in the band and was one of the best trombone players in the city.  After graduation, Rita joined the military and was stationed all over the globe.  At our 10th year class reunion, Rita won the prize for traveling the furthest to attend the reunion.  After retiring from the military, Rita worked as a land surveyor and at her local animal care center.  Rita died at home from a severe asthma attack.  Rita was survived by her dog Shelby that someone has come forward to give him a good home.

Rita and I really enjoyed spending time together at Parker.  We were in band together and often spent time together after school hours.  Fun things we did was either hang out at my house and swim or go to her house and play on her pinball machine!  Rita was always a kind person to everyone she met.  Quiet at times but always had a smile to share!  I am glad that her dog Shelby has a home where she will be loved and cared for.  with love and found memories ~ Annie

I'm so sad to hear this...I friended her awhile back but never heard back from her.... She lived near me growing up and was an Awesome trombone player..I remember spending a weekend with her and her parents at their beach house on Vilano beach, burying ourselves in the sand, pretending to hitch-hike on A1A, just crazy teen stuff, Wow I'm shocked.

Rita and I had been friends since 6th grade.  We spent a lot of time at each other's houses.  I too remember the pinball machine and pool table and her father's house at the beach. Fun times!  Rita was always fun loving and such a prankster.  Too many memories to list!  I do remember one time when she was working at 7-11 and a guy came in to rob the store.  She jumped over the counter and beat the crap out of him and held him until police came.  She didn't take anything off anyone.  Another time, while at a football game on National tv, our spats got hung together on the sideline before marching out.  We both went facedown on the field, jumped up and ran to catch up with the band (sorry Mr. Lippo).  How embarrassing!  I will remember your smile and fun loving heart!  You will be surely missed!

I met Rita when we were both about 8 or 9 and she lived next door to me on Greenfern Lane. I remember quite a bit of good times we had while she lived there. They later moved and I lost touch with Rita even though we still went to the same schools. I am so saddened to hear of this and send my love and prayers to the family and am glad that her dog is being taken care of.

Rita was one of the people I was really hoping to run into at our recent reunions.  I remember her being always up for a joke or a prank, just fun to be with.  But she was also one of the most true & honest people you could ever meet...not a phony bone in her body.  She marched to her own beat & was unafraid to be herself, even in high school.  Rest in peace, my friend.

I knew Rita through the band as I hung out with Bobby Pevy and Sandy Kelczewski, it is a small world we live in though. In 1980 I was stationed at a base known as Bentwaters in England. I was good friends with a girl that was stationed at a different base known as Chicksands. I took this girl to a dance and we had our picture taken. She had the picture in her room and called me one day to tell me someone wanted to say hi as she had recognized me and that we had attended high school together. It was Rita, we talked for awhile about being at Parker and all. She was truly a good friend to many and will truly be missed.
