Thanks to all 65 Tigers who were able to go to Jackson and vote in the election concerning the potential name change for our alma mater. Special thanks to those who travelled long distances such as Robert Johnson who drove down from South Carolina. Robert picked up several other classmates during the trip to Jacksonville so they too could vote.
Now that the voting has ended, the results will be submitted to the Superintendent of Schools who will prepare her recommendation and submit it to the School Board. During its June meeting, the Board is scheduled to consider the recommendation and accept it, reject it or request that another name be proposed for consideration.
Since the School Board will make the final decision concerning Jackson’s name, request that anyone who hasn’t already done so contact the Superintendent and the members of the School Board (by email, and/or phone) and let them know your recommendation.

For those who weren’t able to go vote or who haven’t visited Jackson recently, attached are some photos of the W. 28th street entrance and the general area where the voting was conducted. As the photos indicate, the school is in relatively good condition and appears to be well maintained.
