Judi Sikes Buckingham passed away from a battle with cancer on November 20, 2024.
Judi Sikes Buckingham, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on November 20, 2024. She was surrounded by the love of her family, who will forever cherish her laughter, warmth, and generous spirit. Judi touched the lives of all who knew her with her vibrant personality and boundless love for life. She never met a stranger and always made others feel welcome, whether at home, in the Keys, or at the Elks Lodge, where she spent many joyful hours.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 21, 1947, to Mildred Robinson Sikes and Lloyd Carlton Sikes, Judi grew up with a zest for life. A proud Andrew Jackson High School graduate, she was a cheerleader and crowned Miss Andrew Jackson in 1965. In 1966, she married Glenn Edwin Domen, and together they raised two children, Michelle Domen Lenhart and Jason Glenn Domen, who survive her.
Judi briefly managed several hair salons, where her talent with people and passion for the beauty industry flourished. Her expertise and creativity led her to travel with hairdressers for the L’Oréal brand
In the 1980s, Judi’s adventurous spirit led her to South Florida, where her professional journey took her to the hospitality industry. She became a beloved bartender at local institutions such as The Frog, Powers, Two Georges, and Park Avenue BBQ. Her dedication to service and connection with others made her a fixture in the community.
Judi deeply loved the Florida Keys, where she and her family often gathered to celebrate life’s simple pleasures. Holidays and birthdays were especially dear to her, as she never missed an opportunity to send her warm wishes to loved ones.
Judi was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge 1770 in Delray Beach, where she volunteered her time and supported the community she held so close to her heart. In 2015, Judi married the love of her life, Russ Buckingham, with whom she shared a deep and abiding bond. Together, they divided their time between New Jersey and Ocean Ridge, continuing to build a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Her children survive Judi, Michelle Domen Lenhart (Brett) of Ponte Vedra, FL, and Jason Glenn Domen (Shan Casey) of Boston, MA; her two brothers, Joe Sikes and Don Sikes; and her grandchildren, Hannah Michelle Lovely (Seth) of Saint Augustine, FL, and Jacob Brett Lenhart of Conyers, GA, as well as her great-grandson, James Lovely, son of Hannah and Seth. Her parents, her brother Rob, and her beloved husband, Russell A. Buckingham, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Judi’s honor at the Elks Lodge 1770 in Delray Beach, FL, in May of 2025. Her family and friends invite all who knew and loved her to join them in celebrating a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Elks Lodge 1770 or a charity of your choice in Judi’s memory.
Her family plans to have a celebration of her life sometime after the holidays in Delray Beach, Florida, where she resided.
