Obituary of Allen Avery Carter

Allen (Double AA) Avery Carter ended his journey here on earth on May 7, 2025

Allen was born May 3, 1947, and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. He was pre-deceased by his Darlin Rose, Rosemarie Becksvoort Carter; His parents Gerald (Crash) and Lollie Carter and his siblings Robert E. Carter and Linda Carter Thomas.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Keen, Jennifer Williams (Richie), Loree Parker (Craig), Marjorie Kinsey (Mike), and Patrick Foster (Olivia) and Grandchildren Jaci, Chase, Craig, Zach, Wren, Michael and Peppa.

Allen attended North Shore Elementary School where he served on the School Safety Patrol. He graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1965. He remained lifelong friends with several of his classmates.

Upon graduation, Allen went to work at the Jacksonville Shipyards and served 7 years in the Army Reserves. In 1969 he began his career in Law Enforcement and retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in July of 1995. During his time at JSO, he was assigned to Dispatch, Patrol, was a Motor Man, and was in the Detective Division with much of that time in the Traffic Homicide Unit. He also served proudly as an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police and held the offices of 1st and 2nd Vice President.

Upon Retirement from JSO he went to work for the United States Marshals Service, serving as a Federal Bailiff at the Federal Courthouse. He ended his professional career with Martin Environmental Solutions where he was employed as a Senior Field Scientist. He was employed here until he left to care for his Darlin Rose after a terminal cancer diagnosis.

A celebration of Allen's life will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11am, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd.
