All of us Jamaica HS alumni reading this are a bit older now, genuine senior citizens.  One of our own is a gerontologist doing a radio talk show.  It broadcasts on KMUZ FM FM out of Salem, OR.

The subject matter in Aging.  Format involves showcasing fellow seniors with interesting and even unusual activities, foregoing a "sterile rocking-chair existence", says Radio Host B. Lee Coyne.

Strictly non-scripted, the Monday show is conversational and chock full of banter and a chance to reminisce personal milestones of the past.  Coyne asks his guests to recall where they grew up and went to school and what motivated them to select their career.  He also delves into the influence of grandparents, of what life was like for them in their day and age.

Out-of-state folks can do streaming through the KMUZ website.  Adjust your computer to Monday at Noon PST, allowing for differences in your time zone.  The program is called "Aging Without Raging" and listeners can make suggestions by phoning (503) 851-7825 anytime.

A former Toastmaster club officer, Coyne attributes his fondness for ad libs to his 18 years with that organization.   He was active in the Problems of Democracy Club and the Debate Society during his 1956-59 years at Jamaica High.  Those memories still run deep.
