QUEENS or MELVILLE? rsvp

WHY MELVILLE?

Simply close to home of the organizers?  Some of us are coming from distant places far from NYC and are discouraged if we have to travel many miles via the LIRR and then take a taxi.  Not convenient in the least.

Some of us wish to visit the old school...and to  show it to our spouses.  Sentimentality is important to consider.

Others of us have relatives in Brooklyn or Queens or Manhattan to stay with.  Do not assume that everyone will have a car handy.  Surely West Coasters will not!

On a creative note, I recommend we do a humorous skit of bygone days.  Let's call it:

EXTRA!  EXTRA!  FROM THE PAGES OF THE HILLSCHLEPPER!

  • We can have a cub reporter do mock interviews with our JHS class celebs;
  • Our portrayal can include a game by our Eager Beavers baseball team;
  • How about a sing-along?  We can write up new lyrics for 60's hit tunes;
  • Maybe some vignettes from I Love Lucy, Lone Ranger, The Honeymooners;
  • Would love to see mini-seminars from retired academicians in our midst.

MAIN POINT: Our Jam High Reunion should take on a unique personality and not simply be just another generic-style event that any school could sponsor.

Something that would get the late Dr. Schuker "all shook up".  Comments??
