This reunion will not be the same without Ed being there. He was so instrumental in organizing the first and I am grateful to his brother Larrry and Stan for continuing the tradition.
Ed was my dear brother. There couldn't have been two more opposite people than my brother and I. Ed was into Art and I was into Sports. Ed became successful in Real Estate where he lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He also did home and condo renovations and was retired by the age of 40. He then went back to school and became an MSW in Psychotherepy, and as anyone who knew Ed, this was the perfect field for him. He loved people and he loved to help people with their problems. As kids we were two years apart and didn't get along too well because we were so different. As we got older we became best friends. Ed also introduced me to my wife, the former Elden Sambur, who was also Ed's friend as both were in the class of '62.
Ed met Connie Frances, the singer one night at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, she needed change to make a phone call. Ed always being flamboyant introduced himself and offered to drive her home to Pembroke Pines, where she lived at the time. They became inseperable BEST FRIENDS until the day he died. When Connie needed advice she would call my brother. They spent hours talking together and it was a wonderful relationship. My sister Ellen, younger but also a JHS Grad, my wife and I, still keep in touch with Connie. Ed is the singular person that convinced her to sing again after she quit singing after her traumatic rape at the motel on Long Island where she was performing at the time.
Ed was a very handsome guy and women were always attracted to him when they met him, both for his good looks and his personality. Ed was always talking, and one day he said to my wife and I that when he died he wanted to be buried with a cell phone in his casket. Elden and I placed a phone in his casket and one day the phone will ring and it will be ED! May he rest in peace!
