Maxine and I were neighbors and classmates. I have told this " Maxine Goldstein " story before: We used to ride the bus home together. Maxine would often moan that she did terrible on a test. I would tell her that I did just so fine, probably a 95%. The next day...always...Maxine scored the highest of grades and I performed at the lower end. We would smile together just the same.
