Enid Coleman had just retired as an emergency room physician at St. Luke's hospital in Manhattan, New York. Prior to that she had worked several years in the emergency department at Roosevelt Hospital. She did her medical training at Downstate Medical College in Brooklyn, New York, and did her emergency residency at Albert Einstein Medical College in The Bronx.
