In my opinion, Barbara was the most beautiful girl in the class on 1961. I knew her since 6th grade and I had a big crush on her. She was very popular in school. Whilst we would talk, we were not friends...probably because I was not with the in crowd. I loved to watch her perform at basketball games. She was the captain of the cheerleaders...co-captain with Lynda Tell. She was vibrant and had a lovely personality. I loved her jokes. She was the first true blonde I ever liked. Barbara was very popular and I am quite sure most of the graduates remember her well. I saw the 25th year class reunion video and there she was. To me, an unforgetable lady. She left this earth way too soon.
My sympathy goes out to Artie and their daughters.
Following the reunion on 9/25/2010, I learned from Artie that Barbara left us 5 years ago. He and I and others talked about her with fond memories and love. Her memory lives on.
I knew noone when I entered J.H.S. 216. I remember seeing Barbara from afar and said to myself that she was going to be my friend..... and we were...... She was indeed startingly beautiful but more importantly, pure in soul and kind in spirit. We would walk home everyday together, spend most of our free time together and I was indeed happy and thrilled to say she was my Best Friend. We had separated our ways in college and after but came together when she became ill. She reached to me explaining that friends of long standing gave her comfort and tranquility. I had the good fortune of spending 2 days with her a year before she passed away. What I was most impressed about was her life's work of helping others through the formation of "Suited for Success", a unique approach to helping women in need. Her two daughters and adoring husband, I am sure, miss her terribly as many do who crossed her path. What a shining star she has left in our hearts.
We lost a bright shining star when we lost Barbara. I met her when we were in the second grade in P.S. 173. I will always remember her for her bright smile which she always had. She was intelligent as well as beautiful. In the 6th grade she told me of her goals in life but what most impressed me was how hard she worked to achieve those goals. Barbara had a unique gift of caring for others and was interested in what you had to say. Everything she did and to everyone whose lives she touched, she was truely an insperation. I was lucky to say she was my friend.
