Robert (Bob) James Libby, 71, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 12, 2009. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at Feigum Funeral Home in Pierre, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.. A Celebration of Life will be held at 8 p.m. at Brewsters in Onida. Bob was born to Perry and Mary Libby Nov. 15, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Army. Once discharged, Bob attended college at the University of South Dakota, where he met Jeannene (Jean) Ann Reaves. They married on Jan. 30, 1962, in Pipestone, Minn., and began their 47 years together. Advertisement The Libby family moved to Onida in 1976 with their three children, Kirsten, Chuck and Pat. Bob enjoyed reading, gardening, and a good joke. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to holding up the garage. Bob is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Kirsten (and “Bea Stough”); sons, Chuck, Pat and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allyson, Maggie, Jeffrey, Robbie, Rachel, Rebecca and Ryan. He is also survived by siblings Susan Braband, of Arizona, and Dan Libby, of Jefferson. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Nancy Begnouche, John (Jack) Libby, Catherine Langley and Perry (Larry) Libby. In lieu of flowers a memorial account has been established.
