Survived By: Survivors include his wife, Joan; two daughters, Jamie Collas of LaJolla, Calif., and Janelle Hutton and her husband Dan of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Chloe and Dimitri Collas and Haley and Joey Hutton; his mother, Lorraine Christiansen of North Sioux City; five sisters, Sherry Connors and her husband Dick of Jefferson, Christine Nelson of North Sioux City, Gail Schoepf and her husband Cliff of South Sioux City, Marlene Fornia and her husband Dave of Jefferson, and Tammy Estergaard and her husband Kirk of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers, Ray and his wife Nola of Sioux City, Mike and his wife Pat of Sioux City, Randy and his wife Linda of Jefferson, and Bill of North Sioux City; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Bernard of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Teresa Harris of Jefferson; two brothers-in-law, Larry Bernard and Joe Bernard, both of Jefferson; several aunts and uncles; 13 nieces; 13 nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.

This is an update.  Joe Christiansen was born Oct. 13, 1944, the son of Lester and Lorraine (Bernard) Christiansen. He attended McCook Elementary Schools and graduated from Jefferson (S.D.) High School in 1963. He married Joan A. Bernard on July 8, 1966, in Jefferson. He worked as a supervisor at Iowa Beef for 17 years. For the past 21 years, Joe and Joan have owned and operated the Skyline Bar & Casino in North Sioux City. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Abu Bekr Shrine Cycle Corps. He was a member of the Ikes Club, where he served on the board of directors for many years. He was the first president of the McCook Lake Jaycees and served on the board of directors of the SDRLDA. He loved to fish and golf. He was a lifetime resident of the North Sioux City area.
