Dear Classmates — here is the first edition of the survey. We can always add questions, but this version should get the ball rolling. The initial goal is to decide whether we should do something for our 60th year (Diamond Jubilee)and, if so, what options make the most sense.
Survey Purpose
Recently, Mary Edginton posted a reminder that this is our 60th year since graduation. Based on preliminary notes shared on the website, there appears to be little, if any, support for a single-site, in-person reunion like the one held in South Africa in 2016. However we should consider whether we want to do something and what the possible alternatives might be. This survey is intended to help answer those questions.
Classmate and Website Participation Status
We know of 30 classmates who are deceased: 14 for whom we have the year of death and 16 who passed before this website was started. Please see the “In Memory” link for details. There are also 10 classmates who never joined the site; please see the “Missing Classmates” link. If anyone knows the whereabouts of these classmates it won't do any harm contcting them and letting them know that we would be happy for them to join.
This survey is directed to class members listed on the site and to as a FYI to staff in the Alumni office.
Access statistics show that 41 classmates entered the site at least once in 2026, 5 others in 2025, 2 in 2024, 3 in 2023, and the rest before that. Eleven classmates have not accessed the site since 2015, shortly after it was created in September 2014 in preparation for the 50th anniversary.
Website Renewal Costs
As notedin the previous announcement, our ad-free period ends this October. To remain free of ads, we need to renew our subscription, which would cost $220 for one additional year or $380 for trwo additional years. Transfer of funds in dollars would be simplified if $18 dollars each is contributed by the US based members who regularly access the site.
Succession Planning
Succession planning is important as I am now the only administrator for the site. At least one additional administrator would be needed if we planned to maintain the site, and to ensure a smooth transition if and when needed.
