Where are they now?
That is just one of many questions on the minds of the Lee High graduates from the class of 1992. As this unique group makes plans to celebrate their twentieth year of life beyond high school next month, they hope to find some answers as well as just reconnect with friends. After the creation of a class reunion website, www.lee92.com, the profile updates begin filling in some of the blanks as to whatever happened to that bright and aspiring class who flung their red caps in the air that hot afternoon in May. While most appear to be in Virginia, others are spread throughout eight different states of the USA and a few have even joined the military and now dwell overseas. You will never guess who went west and lives in Colorado. Missouri is home for another class member. A lot of them left for a few years to pursue their collegiate goals/dreams and then returned here to Lee County and have been vital parts of our education, manufacturing, and transportation systems. Currently, some reside in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina while a few others decided to traverse north into Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia. If you are a member of the class and want to see who is close and who is all the way around the world, visit the website and update your profile. Finally, it grieves our heart to realize some have already moved to eternity and will be dearly missed. Your life is honored in our cherished memories.
What other interesting facts await the reunion attendees? According to the information provided so far, there are some career choices that will surprise. In the last TWENTY years, some changed their names, some changed appearance, some even changed their location; but, none changed the fact that they graduated with 288 other individuals on that historical day. Who has children or grandchildren and how many? It appears that a few meet the national average of one while others are concentrating on a ball team of their own. Would you like to see if the kids look just like the mom or dad you grew up with? Make plans now to attend the home football game against Gate City on Friday, October 26 so you can meet up with the 1992 graduates as they visit their alma mater. Can’t make it to the game on Friday night? Then come out Saturday, October 27th to the annual Tobacco Festival parade in the afternoon around 3pm, or make reservations to eat a relaxing and delicious dinner of goodies catered by the Park Avenue Chef in the large banquet room at the new Holiday Inn in Norton, VA. You will be able to socialize, reminisce of the years gone by, and do some “catching up” with friends while enjoying some customized tunes. Class Reunions don’t occur very often and one like this will NEVER happen again; so, update your profile, mark the last weekend of October on your calendar, and celebrate the last twenty years with the Lee High Class of 1992 alumni.
The ’92 Class would like to extend a very warm THANK YOU to current principal of Lee High, Ms. Connie Daugherty, for her invitation to tour the school campus before the home football game and her cooperation to make this reunion a success.
