Been here in Kalamazoo since KC. Met my husband in 89, married in 95 and have two awesome, creative, fun boys.
Didn't fashion myself as being one who should influence and guide our youth to be responsible or academically oriented but found my groove in Art Ed. while working on my BS degree at WMU. I taught K-2 grades and completed a MA in Reading Instruction (WMU). Also didn't anticipate teaching technology or film making but have been doing Computer Informaton Systems and now Video Production/Broadcasting/Animation at Milwood Magnet Middle School for the past few years. Absolutely love it! Wow, do many days remind me of my days at Hillside though. What comes around goes around, that is for sure. The stuff I pulled is still there but the Kalamazoo youth are far more brazen. Too bad for them I did it, can sense a lie and have eyes in the back of my head.
If you are in the area you may have run into me at Lowe's Home Improvement. I am the queen of the customer service desk, calming down irate guys who think they can fix a sink because we sell them. Or busting local thieves who are stealing copper. An eventful job with Kalamazoo's finest. My husband is a builder in addition to a teacher so this part time job is handy (pardon the pun).
Still enjoy social gatherings, strong beer and alternative music.
