Hall of Fame: Radio
Inducted in 2004
Ron Morgan came to St. Louis in 1973, taking an on-air position on Pulitzer powerhouse KSD. It was the beginning of a stay in St. Louis radio that would span nearly twenty years. Known as "Morgan in the Morning," he peppered his programs with droll humor supplemented with an infectious laugh and gave his program team plenty of opportunities to share the spotlight. He also did mornings at KSD-FM and KLOU, as well as other shifts at KMOX and KHTR. Morgan was also program director at CBS-owned KLOU when it hit the air with an oldies format, giving the station a strong group of personalities to complement the music, and he served as operations director at KSD-FM. Ron Morgan was visible in the community as a long-time supporter of the Easter Seals Society.

The only info I could find on Ron was that he was born April 15, 1942 and passed away   February 3, 2003.

I remember Ron as the disc jockey on one of Kalamazoo's AM radio stations and as a happy-go-lucky good time guy who always had a smile on his face.   He would be one that I would have looked forward to seeing October 8, sadly not to be.

Ron was also a good friend to my best friend and soul mate, Fran.

My cousin, who still resides in the St. Louis MO area, remembers a very popular radio DJ in the area and his "Morgan in the morning" show - as it turns out - that was indeed our Ron Morgan.  He definitely made the bigtime in radio.  Check out the link:  http://www.stlradio.com/hof-03-04.htm which contains a picture of Ron, when he was inducted in the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame.   See also:  http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Good+work+during+bad+times.+(AM%2FFM).-a098828412 which about half way down contains further information on Ron's professional life assumedly from his obituary.  When I recently re-established contacted Paul Livingston (one of our previously missing brothers, now living in Florida), he mentioned that he had made contact with Ron Morgan during his radio days in St. Louis.

Sure wish Ron could be there in October driving that silver and black '57 Chevy Impala of his...........R.I.P. Ron.......R.I.P.

Ron Morgan and I went to Wyandotte Roosevelt High School at the same time, although he was a year ahead of me.  He was involved in many activities, he lettered in varsity football and varsity baseball.  He was President of the Border Cities League.  He was in the Senior and Thespian plays, on the Debate Team, and Discussion Team in addition being the Treasurer of the Roosevelt Student Union.   Ron was an all around great guy and real mentor for the "RIVER RATS" that pledged in spring 1964. He was very involved in the WMU radio station, WIDR, as was my dorm roommate Henry Erb.  Ron passed away February 3. 2003 of a heart attack in St. Louis, MO.
