Gerry Kretschmar (1961)
Wayne was my (big) Little Brother (Don Obry the other) and I was shocked to learn of his passing as we were in contact via emails and I had no knowledge of any health issue. I was contacted by Wayne's close cousin who lives in Iowa and he first told me of his passing. According to his cousin, Wayne's Son, Brad, called Wayne daily and he had not heard from in two days so he went to his house and found him sitting in his easy chair passed away. A State Patrolman who responded when contacted said it appeared Wayne had suffered from a heart attack or stroke.
Wayne's Wife, Sue, passed away about 5 years ago and he continued to work at his education administration consulting business. His marriage to Sue was the result of my Wife, Fran's getting them in contact. While Wayne was still on duty in the Army as a military police officer in Germany back in the early 60s, he wrote us a letter saying he was lonely over there and appreciated letters. Fran worked at Upjohn (now Pfizer) in Kalamazoo and asked a couple of girls in the office if they might like to write to her lonely buddy in Germany. Sue said she would be happy to and the rest was history. Prior to his leaving for his duty in Germany, Wayne had participated as part of our wedding party in Midland in 1964.
RIP in Chapter Eternal Little Bro, with love and a final Phi Alpha, "Kretsch"
