I have never forgotten my very special year as an exchange student. I wish I could see you all again once. may be for the 25th year.
The first time I entered Mrs Burgess classroom, there was that little guy dancing on a table. She came in and without looking at him, she said : " Edwin out". So we started our first calculus lesson of the school year. If something like that had happened in my last school, it would have been very dramatic. But those both knew each other. Edwin became the best friend of my kansan year. Later on, after years, my parents called me from France while I was living in switzerland to tell me that some friend of mine was driving from Chartres (near to Paris) to Nice (on the french Riviera) in their car. It was Edwin ! I did not know that he was in France. So, I drove from Lausanne to Nice to meet him. Arriving I said something like " Hello Edwin, how are you". He answered to me "Bonjour Patricia…" all in french with almost no accent ! I will wonder all my life if I had not been a student in Turner Highn that year if Edwin would have become the man who read Césaire and Fanon and may be my next letter if i can get his new adress.

Hi Paula, I am still very alive. I call Pat Gray my american mother once in a while. She gives me news as much as she knows.
I am sad to realize that you had your 20 years meeting and that I was not with you.
From France I need more time than all of you to make sure that I can join you. So, next time It would be great to inform me few mont before which let me time to buy a plane ticket, quit my job and my daughter. I would love to meet you Paula. Could you give me Paige's mail address please, or her phone number in Kansas.
Big kisses.
Pat

I wish you a great great birthday. I'd like to get news from you. always in my mind !I've shown pictures from my high school 's year to some of my friends here, in Marseille. So, they heard about you. They just loved that moment about which I haden't been speaking for a long time. Since I didn't grow up in Marseille, most of my ffriends ignore evrething about my past life. So, it was very funny to share about that very special year. I'm at work, selling roofs... Yhe sun shines and people are at the beach paying ball, swimming and snoring... And, I work like a poor lonely cow-boy.... Je t'embrasse.
