Adrian Fogel Curtis died on August 18, 2002.  She fought a valiant battle against cancer.  She was survived by her son Matthew Killian and husband Jerry Killian.  Jerry died in March, 2011.

For over 20 years, Adrian was the Budget Officer of the US Justice Department.  She worked very closely with every Attorney General from Ed Meese through Janet Reno.  Each Attorney General presented Adrian with the highest awards for excellent service to the Department and the Country.

Adrian was also very generous in terms of providing contributions and her time to people less fortunate than she was.  She was thus involved in many efforts to help battered women, the homeless, and refugees from war torn countries.

I still miss Adrian.  We grew closer after high school.  Adrian was a member of my extended family.  I visited her at Smith College.  She visited me in New Jersey and New York.  We got together if we were both in KC.  When she was sick, I was able to visit her in her beautiful home in Bethesda, MD.  She had a loving family who supported her through very difficult times.

She is missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

Her obituary was in the Kansas City Star and can be looked up.

My first memory of Adrian was in kindergarten. She had long wavy black hair and a beautiful dress and was able to read a story to us. I thought she looked like a princess and was in awe that she could read since I could only recite and write the ABC's. Later her mom became our Blue Bird Leader. I remember her mom as being very nice and having so much fun at the meetings. Once she took me home in her hard top T-bird. I felt very fancy.

Adrian sounds like she continued to be a special person who contributed much to our country and others who needed her help. I am sorry her life was so short.
