Karla Glavas (Larson)

Karla Glavas Larson died on June 23, 2022, in Reston Virginia. She was born on 1 May 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Konstantine Spiros Glavas and Bonnie June (Shackleford) Glavas. Karla graduated from Kansas City Junior College, Maryland University while accompanying her husband on his Air Force assignment in Japan, and Chapman University with a master’s in psychology. She married Eric (Rick) Larson on 16 August 1969 and they have two daughters Dr. Stacy Larson Baron and Alexis Larson Lundeen. In the course of 17 moves during Rick’s 30 years of Air Force service, Karla created wonderful homes from Japan to Egypt, Alaska to Mississippi. She exhibited extraordinary flexibility working as a drug abuse counselor, as well as positions teaching, and in retail sales, medical insurance claims, and property management in the United States and abroad. She served as a Vestry member, usher, and on the Altar Guild at St Francis Episcopal Church, Great Falls, Virginia. Her nephews and nieces noted that she had an ability to connect and make friends with her personable nature and her wonderful sense of humor. Both Karla and Rick graduated from Southwest High School in 1965. Karla with a much higher level of academic achievement than Rick. She was Vice-President and Treasurer of Delphi, secretary of the Art Club, and International Club, a member of the Pep Club, Red Cross, and Student Council. She was most proud of her time as the Treasurer’s Assistant with Mrs Rains. She was on the Honor Roll three semesters. She is survived by her husband Rick, daughters, Stacy and Alexis, two wonderful sons-in-law, Tim Baron and Kevin Lundeen, six grandchildren, Aidan, Kyra, and Holden Baron and James, Lilly, and Madeleine Lundeen. She was proceeded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Sam, Paul, and Larry Glavas. A Burial Service will be held at Saint Francis Episcopal Church, Great Falls, Virginia on 13 July at 1100 In lieu of flowers the family request a donation to Saint Francis Church Great Falls, Virginia.
