Gary Friedman

Obituary for Gary E. Friedman

Gary Friedman of Leawood, Kansas passed away Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. If you didn’t know him, I wish for you to have someone like him come into your life.

He always felt he was rich in all the ways that mattered. His wife, Patti, was his life partner in every way. His love for her was absolute and hers for him. His daughter, Melissa Friedman, and son, Bradley Friedman, and his wife, Taly, and their two children, Emmett and Remy, were his heart and soul. Even if he had won the billion dollar lotto, he couldn’t have been any richer.

He spent most of his working career in the alarm business. His company, Edgar Security Systems, protected people and their homes and businesses; and often those customers and certainly those he worked with became dear friends along the way.

To his nieces, nephews, and family. To everyone who called him Uncle Gary, whether related to him or not. To all of his manyyy friends. We know your loss is palpable. We will all feel the void every day but will carry with us his kindness and many stories in our hearts.

Gary was born on September 14th, 1947 to the late Herman and Frieda Friedman in Atchison, Kansas; a place he remembered fondly and talked about often. His sisters and brothers-in-law, the late Marlene Krakow, Felicia Weiner and the late Seymour Weiner, Bruce Birnbaum and Jeanette Leissler, and his dear in-laws Barbara and Bernard Birnbaum, were of the many who lived with his antics, laughed at his stories, and got his help whenever they needed it.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending a contribution to SPOHNC, JFS, Congregation Beth Shalom, or any other charity of your choosing.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, May 10th, 2024 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO 64131. To join by zoom, please email zoom2@louismemorial.com for link and passcode. Burial to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
