Stephen Gitterman, 63, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010. Stephen was born March 28, 1947, in Kansas City. An informal dinner celebrating Stephen's life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the home of his daughter at 424 E. 78th Terrace, KCMO 64131. Stephen graduated from Southwest High School in 1965 and graduated with a BA from UMKC. He served in the US Marines during the Vietnam Era and served in the US Coast Guard. Stephen enjoyed fishing, photography, working with computers and giving people "a hard time." He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rebecca, and son Sean Gitterman Hart. Stephen is survived by his wife, Esther of the home, son, David (Laura) Gitterman, daughters, Jessica (Joe) Perry, and Jo Anna (Adam) Ellis, daughter, Jennifer Bilhimer and her mother, Michele Hart. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Morgan, Emma, Molly, Alec and Madelynn, along with two sisters, Susan Gitterman and Teri (Sheldon) Kallevig, many other family members and friends, including his dogs, Princess and Simon. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the VFW National Headquarters, 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.
