Linda Diane Johnson Dangel passed away at home after a long battle with adult-onset Type I (juvenile) diabetes and the autoimmune disease, Inclusion Body Myositis. She was cared for by her husband of 55 years, having passed just one day short of their 56th anniversary.

Linda was born to Ralph Johnson and Bertha Esplin in Ogden, Utah on September 27, 1945. She was the youngest of four daughters and attended Davis High School. Linda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married Edgar Albert Dangel Jr on February 16, 1968, after being set up on a blind date.

Linda had an adventurous soul and loved to travel. Through cruises and road trips, Linda saw many parts of the world and took pride in having visited every state but Alaska. 

Linda was a voracious reader and had an extensive library, including complete collections for Stephen King, John Grisham, and Robert Ludlum. She was a proud military wife (USAF) and retired from the Department of Defense after 34 years as a computer operator.

Her greatest joy was her two grandchildren. With them, she shared her passion for Disney movies, McDonalds happy meal toys, rides at Lagoon, and travel, having taken them on numerous summer holidays, including to Yellowstone, Disneyland, and San Diego. Despite her declining health, she made every effort to participate in their performances, games, and activities. Just days before her passing she expressed regret that she wouldn’t get to see them graduate from high school (Alex) this year and college (Ali) next year, but she wanted them to know that she was so very proud of them.

Linda is survived by her husband, Ed Dangel, two sons, Cody and Brady, two grandchildren, Ali Elizabeth and Alexander Jacob, sister Alice Mitchell (Bill), many nieces and nephews, and her prized corgis Calico and Ginger.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her name to the Myositis Association (myositis.org) or to the Salvation Army and its Angel Tree program. This was a cause she was devoted to and participated in every Christmas, serving as many as 30 angels each year.

Graveside Services will be held Friday February 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. 

And to Linda/mom/grandma/sister/friend, we all hope you can finally feel rest.
