Layton—
July 7, 1945 – May 13, 2022
We recently said goodbye to Jeanine P. Parrish. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully. Jeanine was born in Salt Lake City July 7, 1945 to Richard Linwood Purcell and Mabel Argyle Purcell. She lived almost the entirety of her life in Davis County. She attended Davis High School and at the age of 17 graduated from Beauty School and was a practicing beautician for the next 50 years.
She owned the well-known salon "A Cut Above" in Layton for thirty-five years and enjoyed and loved the entire Layton community. She was married twice early in life, first to Joel Smedley and later to John Lloyd Sparks. On June 24, 1988 she married Brent W. Parrish and would spend the rest of her life with him. They were inseparable and together until the end. Jeanine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and fiercely enjoyed her entire family.
Jeanine loved her family and friends above all else but also took time to catch a few fish. She was an accomplished fly fisherman and fly tier and spent as much time as she could fishing with Brent on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River while staying in the family cabin. She also loved gardening and had a tremendous green thumb. Jeanine took pleasure in walks with friends and her sister. Jeanine accepted and loved those in her life, her home was always welcoming.
Jeanine is survived by her husband Brent W. Parrish and two children: Jed P. Sparks and his wife Kimberlee Sparks; and Jill Patricia Sparks and her wife Michelle Olson Sparks; three grandchildren: Liam Patrick Sparks; Lilly Unsworth-Sparks; and Morgan Unsworth-Sparks; and her sister Michele McClain and her husband Michael McClain. She is also survived by three step-children: Charles Parrish; Christopher Parrish and his wife DeAnn Parrish; and Catherine Parrish Lake and her husband Matthew Lake; four step-grandchildren: Lyndsie Parrish; Ashley Clark and her husband Taylor Clark; Zack Parrish; and Nathan Parrish Lake; and one step-great grand-child, Blakely Clark.
Jeanine bravely and passionately fought rheumatoid arthritis for much of her life. She is no longer suffering and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
