Ruthann Thomas Allred
April 17, 1945 – March 14, 2022
On March 14, 2022, Ruthann Allred, our amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother joined her beloved husband in Heaven. Ruthann was born on April 17, 1945 to Henry Wayne and Ruth Adell Thomas.
When Ruthann was born, the family lived in Solider Summit, Utah. Due to her father working for the railroad, the family moved a number of times mostly between Layton, Utah and Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Ruthann spent her sophomore year attending Davis High in Layton. Then the family moved to Glenwood Springs for her junior and senior.
After graduation, Ruthann attended beauty school in American Fork and later earned a job working at a prestigious hair salon. Her husband, Mick apprenticed at an upholstery shop across the street from the hair salon. Ruthann caught his eye and the rest is history.
Ruthann married Mick Allred on September 7, 1968. Together Ruthann and Mick had four girls. Nesha was born in 1972, Tonya was born in 1974, Sheena was born in 1976 and Shalana was born in 1978. They treasured their daughters.
Ruthann and Mick worked side by side to build their family a cabin. After Mick’s battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma, at the age of 35, the couple were determined to live life to the fullest. Almost every weekend Mick and Ruthann would pack up their four daughters and head out on an adventure. These adventures included many weekends at their cabin, Lake Powell trips, trips in the motor home, riding four wheelers and snow mobiles and snow skiing.
After Mick retired, the couple bought their Razor and loved to spend time at Bryce Canyon and Moab with their children and grandchildren. Ruthann and Mick had 18 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids, who they adored and their grandkids adored them.
Ruthann and Mick were married just shy of 53 years before Mick’s passing on August 15, 2021. Ruthann was heartbroken at the passing of her husband and could never regain her zest for life. Her passing was just seven short months after his.
Anyone who knew Ruthann, knew of her gentle nature and generous heart. Whenever her grandkids visited her, she would often insist on giving them money. The nurses at the assisted living center, where she spent her last months, grew to love her and mourned her passing.
Ruthann was truly loved and adored by all who knew her. She was a great listener and spent many hours listening and advising her daughters. Those precious times will be deeply missed by her daughters. Though Ruthann’s passing causes deep sorrow for her family, they are grateful that she is now in the arms of her loving husband.
Ruthann was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Thomas. She leaves behind her daughters, Nesha Thomas (Jason), Tonya Eggett (Rich), Sheena Brown, Shalana Lowder (Matt), 18 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. She is survived by her brother Lee Wayne Thomas.
There will be a viewing held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Lehi Central Stake Center located at 200 North Center St., Lehi. The funeral will follow the viewing at 11:00 am. Ruthann will be buried at the Lehi Cemetery next to her husband. Online guest book at wing mortuary.
