Biography

James S. Kourbelas, our beloved son, brother, father, and papou passed away October 18, 2014.
Born April 3, 1954 at Hill Air Force Base to Soph and Juanita Kourbelas of Farmington, Utah. He attended schools in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1972.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Kourbelas; sisters, Sophia (Dan) Bird, Patti (Ben) Garrison; brother, Clay Kourbelas; children: Michael, Jessica, Justin and Jordan; and one grandchild, Trinity. Preceded in death by his father, Soph Kourbelas.
Jim loved to camp, hunt, fish, and golf with family and friends. He made friends easily and treasured those friendships throughout his life. We will always remember how he made us laugh.
He made his living in construction as a superintendent for Knight Construction. During his lifetime he oversaw the construction of many buildings from convenient stores to semi truck lube and oil facilities. He was responsible for the safety of the workers as well as the budget and timing of the projects. A task at which he excelled.
Jim was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. May his memory be eternal.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City, followed by interment at Farmington City Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. Trisagion Prayer at the mortuary.
The family would like to express our heartfeld thanks to Crestwood Care Center for the kind and compassionate care they gave to our beloved Jimmy. There are truly angels among us.
