Obituary for Marilyn Kraft

Marilyn Kraft, 77 of Heartwell died Sunday, October 08, 2017 at her residence. A memorial service will be held, 10:00 AM, Thursday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. The Rev. Dean Pofahl will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at osrfh.com. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Marilyn was born July 27, 1940 in Kearney to Floyd and Margaret (Bundy) Shiers. She attended school in Kearney and graduated from Longfellow High School in 1958. After graduation she moved to Cheyenne, WY and worked for the Heartland Ranch. She was married to Charles Kraft on August 1, 1959. She was active in the Saddle Club and participated in parades and rodeos during Cheyenne Frontier Days. They had two children, Peter born in 1961 and Joyce born in 1962.
In 1968, due to health reasons, they moved back to Nebraska. At that time, she worked for Gibbon Food Service. In 1977 they moved back to Cheyenne. Their daughter, Joyce was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 16, 1977. She had been a resident of Heartwell for 25 years. Charles died on September 28, 2009.
She was a member of the Extension Club and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include son, Peter (Cindy) of Milliken, CO, grandchildren, Todd and Aaron Kraft, 3 great grandchild, brothers, Clifford of Gibbon, Ronald of California, Arthur of Lincoln and Lavern of Ames, IA and sister, Edith Brill Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Roselynn, daughter, Joyce, granddaughter, Krystle Anne, brother, Alvin, sister-in-law, Marilyn Shiers and brother-in-law, Frank Brill
