DENVER — Douglas G. Snyder, 74, of Denver died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, in Denver.

Memorial services will be later.

Born Feb. 14, 1941, the son of the late Wendell Snyder Sr. and Mary Snyder, Doug was raised on the family farm southwest of Kearney, Neb. He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1962 from Kearney State College. He went on to become a math and science teacher and superintendent of schools in Benedict, Neb.

He was married to Karen Pelster of Sidney, Neb., in 1962. In 1970, Doug and Karen moved to Lincoln, Neb., where they raised their three children. Doug spent much of his career life in insurance sales and retail store management. After retirement, Doug enjoyed traveling the United States, spending time in the outdoors and with his seven grandchildren. Following his travels, he made his home in Colorado.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Snyder Jr.; and infant granddaughter, Barrett Neid.

Doug will be missed and remembered by his sister, Marlene Ferguson and her husband, John, of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Lois Snyder of Kearney; daughter, Elizabeth Neid and Jim Neid Jr. of Denver and their children, Claire, Meredith and Peter; son, Erik Gibson-Snyder and Jennifer Gibson-Snyder of Missoula, Mont., and their daughter, Grace; and son, Lynn Snyder and Colette Peters of Sherwood, Ore., and their daughters, Eleanor, Amelia and Gwenyth. We are grateful for the loving kindness Doug shared with his family. He will also be remembered by his cousins, nieces and nephews.
