Karen was a pint sized bundle of energy.  She fought the long battle with health issues finally meeting her havenly father on March 9th, 2017.  Rest in peace Karen

 

Obituary for Karen Vogt

Karen S. Vogt, 76, of Kearney, died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 14 at First Baptist Church. The Reverend Stan Murdoch will officiate. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday at First Baptist Church. 

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children’s Home, Habitat For Humanity, First Baptist Church Youth, First Baptist Church Building Fund, Ascera Care Hospice or the Make A Wish Foundation. Karen Sue Smallcomb was born on July 4, 1940 in Chappell, Nebraska to Edward and Myrtle M. (Harris) Smallcomb. She was delivered by her Grandfather Dr. Oliver S. Harris. She attended grade school at Stone School and Whittier Elementary. In 1958 she graduated from Longfellow High School. 

Karen was united in marriage to Bob G. Vogt on June 15, 1958 in Minden, Nebraska. Their daughter, Robbie Sue, was born on December 9, 1960. Their son, Neal Kent, was born on December 28, 1971 and was adopted on August 16, 1972. Their family was blessed and now complete. 

She was a member of First Baptist Church. Karen deeply loved the Lord!

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bob Vogt of Kearney; a daughter, Robbie Samuelson and husband Doug of Kearney; a son, Neal Vogt and wife Stacey of Lincoln; a grandson, Jared Samuelson and wife Angela of Kearney; a granddaughter, Jordan Noel Samuelson of Kearney; two brothers, Dale Smallcomb and wife Beverly of Tempe, AZ and her twin, Kent Smallcomb and wife Jo of Kearney; a sister-in-law, Glenda Smallcomb of Ukiah, CA; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nellie and Nelson Smallcomb and Oliver and Nellie Harris; her parents; and five brothers, Delwyn, Donald, David Dee, Oren and Darol.
