I have the best wife and kids that anyone could want! Emily Bitner (KHS, Class of 1991) and I were married in 1992 and it has been a great life ever since. We have had plenty of up's and down's but we boil them all down and what we get is the strongest relationship that I have ever known. She is my best friend and I appreciate every minute of our 18+ year marriage.
Emily and I met in Madrigals and since then I have had a few opportunities to use that talent. I was one of the School board members that formed the quartet in a community production of "The Music Man". The four of us had never sung together, but after the play was over we stayed on to become "Jest In Time" and have performed together for over 3 years at ward Christmas parties, barbershop for a local elder care facilities, and were invited to perform on stage at the Taylorsville Days celebration. It was very cool to be in front of a crowd that large. I was also invited to be a part of the dedicatory choir for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, which was the highlight of my singing career. We have lost a member, so for now the singing is on hold.
Since graduation I have served in the US Navy Reserve with the SeaBees as a construction mechanic during the Gulf War (Honorably Discharged 1998); was a mechanic at the international airport; managed a warehouse and delivery program for a document company; and since 1995 have been commuting 1 1/2 hours each way to work in Utah's west desert. From '95 to '99, I was at the Grassy Mountain facility where they handle the nations RCRA and TSCA hazardous waste. I did everything from sampling to lab work and inspections ending up as the Compliance Manager. Since '99 I have been at the Clive facility, first for Envirocare and now for EnergySolutions. If you don't know, we dispose Low Level (Class A) Radioactive waste. I am the Senior Technician for their Environmental Compliance program and sample air, soil, vegetation, and groundwater to make sure that we aren't allowing anything off property. It is a demanding job in an industry that is misunderstood, but we are doing our best to clean up and manage waste that no one else wants to take care of. I enjoy the work, even if it is a long way from home.
I still like to work on cars and tinker with inventions. In the little spare time I have I do some family and wildlife Photography, and help Emily with her vinyl and craft business.
