I am interested in seeing how NJHS looks today. Every time I go by I see many changes-new media center, new wings, etc. I have only been back to NJHS during daughter's & nieces' graduations. It sure doesn't feel like we are all in our mid to late 50's-seems like maybe 30 something but that is impossible cause my daughter is 33. But the best part of growing older is having grandchildren. See ya!
Smaller...it seems so much smaller than when we were students. I visited last year and later got a tour with Phil Pittman.
It was pretty neat first walking in...the first time I'd been in the school proper since graduation night. Looked the same at first glance except all the lockers are red instead of the green and peach shade they used to be. More trophies in the trophy case, but since there was only one when we were there, I guess that's to be expected.
There are administrative offices now where our library was before. Kind of sad...I had some good times in that library. I can still picture Mrs. Strickland.
Athletic fields are nicer and I think they're building a new gym. I went to a basketball game right after I moved back home...the night they renamed the gym after Waverly Jones. It was like walking into a time warp. The names and faces were different, but it just as easily could have been forty years ago.
Also the lunchroom seemed so small, and it seemed so much larger when were there. I can't remember what school lunches cost those days...must have been like 50 cents. I know before we consolidated they were 25 cents.
It'll be fun to walk the halls again...I love chasing ghosts.
I really enjoyed seeing all that attended the recent reunion. I definitely wished that I could have made all the others that were held. I again thank Tom Sullivan for keeping me informed.
