I went to St. Andrews Elementary with Phil. He was very bright and definitely marched to a different drum. Phil was a Vietnam War veteran, serving with the 173rd Airborne Division. Following his service he was employed as a fireman for the city of Buffalo, until his retirement,

Phil and I were pretty good friends.  I met him on the KJ football practice field in 9th grade when he came to KJ from St. Andrews.  Phil was a very smart kid who had some issues but always had a smile on his face and an aura of craziness to him.  He left school in our senior year and went into the army which further conflicted him and eventually went to he Buffalo Fire Dept. for work.  Phlaps, Phils nick name, was a character and his stories continue to come up at gatherings of his old high school buddies.

Sadly Phil passed a hanful of years ago and is missed by many.
