What have you been up to since you graduated?
practiced International Business law since 1977, at SNAP-ON TOOLS INTERNATIONAL, INC. As a young, well-educated attorney I advanced to become the youngest officer of the company. By 1980 I was promoted to General Counsel and Secretary of Snap-on Tools International Operations. Then I practiced at O’Connor & Willems, SC, then the largest law firm in Kenosha, WI another 3 years, assisting with Business, Real Estate, and Franchise law matters. For the next 15 years later, I had my own firm at Johnson Bank “Main” and performed Banking and Intellectual Property. Clients included Sam Johnson (Johnson Banks and Johnson Wax International Company); Jockey International, LeBlanc Music International, Snap-on Tools Corporation, and World Pac International. I continued with Business, Contract and Trusts and Estates, Franchise and Intellectual Property, Trademarks, Patent Licensing, and Marketing and Distribution Contracts. Served as a Chairman of the Wisconsin Bar Association-International Law Section for six (6) years, a Commercial Dispute Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association - for five (5) years, and a member of the Southeast Estate Planning Council, a Wisconsin Real Estate Broker, Employment Law, Taxation, Financial Investments and related asset investment and marketing practices. I worked with government and private entities in over 18 countries and worked with translators in the EEC, Canada, China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, the Philippines, and in some European and South American countries. I am fluent in Spanish, as my second language. I'm able to read and write some Portuguese and German as well. As to community and Non-profit work, I helped incorporate the new YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha WI, the Kenosha Area Soccer League, CYC, and several others, working and serving on their boards, working with their CPAs to furnish financial reports to their Boards of directors; filing their 501 (c) (3) applications with the IRS. For the last 10 years, I have been studying and teaching Tai Chi, with two of the finest teachers in South Eastern Wisconsin. I have taught at the Kenosha YMCA, our Public Museum, Senior Center, and some local assisted living homes. I enjoy art, gardening, music, museums, practice, and teaching Tai Chi and Bible studies, as well as doing some mission work in Hispanic countries.
